| The members of cOda A Capella
have been working together since 1999. |
| |
They started up like most other
amateur vocal jazz ensembles, just as a way of enjoying
themselves. They soon realized that their enthusiasm
was shared by the audience when they had the opportunity
to perform in several jazz clubs in Barcelona. They
also did shows for official events , music schools and
various private functions/parties. |
|
In 2001, they turned professional
becoming cOda and stepping forward with new vocal arrangements
to update their repertoire with a wider variety of styles.
|
|
cOda's influences come from african
songs , jazz, gospel, blues and bossa as well as pop
and funk music. |
| |
| |
Their versions shine a new light
on standards and popular songs, as well as on arrangements
of excepcional musicians like Bill Gard, Errol Woiski
and Bess Bonnier, to name but a few. |
Their on-stage empathy makes the
fusion of these 5 very distinctive voices possible becoming
one voice in close harmony and giving great entertainment.
|
| |
|
So far, they have performed, and
with great success, at the 21st International) Jazz
Festival of Terrassa (March ’02), Barcelona Pipa’s
Club Jazz Festival (Nov ’02) and at the International
Festival of Barcelona featuring with Joe Smith’s
Melodic workshop (Nov’ 03).
|
|
|
In March 2003, they were invited
to the 125th Anniversary of the Ligget University in
Detroit, and performed with many legendary groups including
The Grunyons. |
| |
In April 2004, they will be appearing,
as invited, in the 47th Annual A Capella Festival, Spring
Sing, in Orlando, Florida. |
| |
| |
| Their first CD , cOda eclèctic was produced by
Columna Musica in January, 2004. |
| |
| At present, all five members of cOda are involved in
voice teaching. |
